A new feature has been added to NERIS that allows departments to quickly create new codes that tie to specify NERIS incident types
If a department refers to an MVA with entrapment as a code 50, they can map the incident type for an MVA to the code 50 for quick entry
Navigate to NERIS Setup
Then to Incident Subtypes:
To create a new Subtype, click new in the bottom left hand corner:
Then you will see the incident subtype entry screen
From here you can enter information relating to the subtype that you want to create for your department
The Code can be numeric, or it can be text depending on your departments need
Your description can be whatever the department chooses to refer to the incident type as
The example above has a code of 50 mapped to the Rescue incident type for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment
Sub Type Entry within a NERIS report:
Under the dispatch tab, you can enter your subtype Code under the Incident type selection
This allows for faster incident type entry, and to track specific sub types if applicable within NERIS
Instead of searching for a "moto, or motor vehicle accident" you can now just type your code 50 into the subtype dropdown and press enter, it will automatically map the incident type into NERIS
The incident type will also show the subtype that you entered as well into the report
